Beard Winter LLP presents at the 2019 CAPSLE conference in Vancouver
John A. Olah will present on the topic of “A Tale of Two Responses to Crisis and Accountability – Reflections from Legal Counsel Involved in the Algonquin Park Tragedy” at the 2019 Canadian Association for the Practical Study of Law in Education (CAPSLE) conference on Monday, May 6, 2019, from 1:15 – 2:30 pm. John will be joined by co-presenter Leola Pon, General Counsel, Legal Services, for the Toronto District School Board.
CAPSLE is a national organization whose aim is to provide an open forum for the practical study of legal issues related to and affecting the education system and its stakeholders. Members include teachers, administrators, board members, trustees, unions, school board associations, educators, academics, students, government and lawyers.
John A. Olah is a senior litigator at Beard Winter LLP specializing in complex tort litigation. He has been involved in a number of major cases involving complex legal issues such as when a Canadian court can take jurisdiction over a foreign tort; expert witnesses; the jurisdiction of conservation authorities to regulate on the basis of safety; and the interaction of waivers and consumer protection legislation.
